12th International Conference on Music Perception and Cognition (ICMPC)
8th Triennial Conference of the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM)

The joint conference ICMPC – ESCOM 2012 took place from 23-28 July 2012 in Thessaloniki, Greece. The conference was organized by the Department of Music Studies, School of Fine Arts, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music.

The conference brought together leading researchers from different areas of music cognition and perception. Papers were invited that reported empirical and theoretical research that contributed to a better understanding of how music is perceived, represented and generated. Research was welcome from a broad range of disciplines, such as psychology, psychophysics, philosophy, aesthetics, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, psychoacoustics, linguistics, music theory, anthropology, cognitive science, education.

The joint conference ICMPC-ESCOM 2012 was the fourth joint international meeting of ICMPC and ESCOM following the meetings in Liege, Belgium (1994), Keele, England (2000), and Bologna, Italy (2006).
